Join our dynamic Data Science Center of Excellence (CoE) and be at the forefront of transforming real business challenges into innovative, AI-powered solutions. As a Data Scientist in the CoE, you'll work with experienced data scientists, engineers, and business leaders to accelerate experimentation and deliver high-impact projects that drive LII's business strategy forward.
You'll play a pivotal role in both exploring new AI opportunities through experimentation and delivering robust data science solutions to address the highest-priority business needs. This is a fast-paced environment where flexibility is key--your ability to quickly adapt and pivot to urgent business deliverables will ensure you're making the biggest impact possible for LII.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with CoE teammates to design and execute time-boxed experiments on high-priority business problems, turning data and AI into business results. Contribute directly to the delivery of key data science solutions by working on projects that are aligned with the company's most urgent and impactful business objectives. Maintain a flexible approach--readily adapting to evolving business priorities and shifting focus to address immediate, high-value deliverables when needed. Help manage and prioritize the team's project backlog, balancing innovative opportunities with business needs and timelines. Analyze results and develop insights that clearly demonstrate ROI and real-world impact for LII's business lines. Contribute to the standardization and continuous improvement of data science methods, tools, and delivery processes. Work closely with data scientists, engineers, IT, and business stakeholders--locally and globally--to share knowledge and leverage best practices. Present findings and recommendations to colleagues and business leaders, ensuring the value and excitement of AI innovations are clearly communicated. Stay curious and proactive about emerging AI and MLOps trends, bringing fresh ideas back to the team. Participate in governance and delivery processes to help ensure projects are executed efficiently and deliver maximum value.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 3-5 years of hands-on experience in data science or applied machine learning, ideally in a business or consulting context. Experience with Python, R, or similar programming languages, and knowledge of common data science tools (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business questions into AI and data-driven solutions. Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability--able to shift focus quickly and work on the company's most pressing business deliverables as priorities evolve. Ability to balance experimentation with robust delivery, ensuring both innovation and impactful business outcomes. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Eagerness to learn, innovate, and contribute to a collaborative, high-energy team environment. * Experience in the insurance or financial services industry is a plus--but a passion for making a real-world impact is a must.
