Role : Data Researcher I

The Team: As a part of newly formed team you will deliver and maintain accurate, complete and timely data sets while taking into account the business units global interests and needs internally & externally. C ommodities Data is part of the Data/Content Management Group, which is a shared service across the S&P Global Platts Data Operations and Engineering Group. The team is involved in various processes, carrying out tasks involving data collection, standardizing, database maintenance, correction of the data, and publishing.

The Impact: This role has a core impact to our business as you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of our data. This role serves as the backbone of our data team catering to a number of different products and you will contribute to finding, investigating, resolving and reporting data issues.
As a Data Researcher I, you will support the integrity and comprehensiveness of the data set by utilizing internal & external public research sources such as government & regulatory documents, stock exchanges, industry journals, analyst reports as well as information databases and our internal research tools to collect, summarize, and synthesize relevant information. Hence you will gain exposure to different reports of covered Industries, while having frequent interaction with global team to learn the industry dynamics and create a symbiotic work culture.

Key Responsibilities:
Analyze timely news stories and market commentary on the oil markets across US, Europe and Africa.
Monitor new trends, new deals and important market intelligence in the commodity trade market.
Assist in answering data related client questions, both internal and external, to ensure platform user issues are investigated and status updates provided to client facing team members.
Maintain Platts' market leading US oil market, commodity trade dataset to ensure updates and market moving events are uploaded to our analytics platform at the speed of the market.
Work collaboratively with Analysts, Data Collections and IT to resolve data issues and understand data.
Find, investigate, resolve and report issues to internal and external platform users to maintain the integrity of Platts' data.
Perform ad-hoc data tasks/research to enable product development and increasing our data coverage to ensure we are always at the forefront of the market.

What we look for:
We are looking for a methodological thinker with a keen eye for detail, someone who enjoys dealing with large sets of data and problem solving. This role would be ideal for someone proactive and eager to learn about energy markets or data. The role is a great place to hone your skills and grow within a strong and collaborative team.

Essential:
The candidate should be willing to work in rotational night shifts. Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment, while following flexible schedule to meet deadlines.
Effective communication skill (written & verbal) are the pre requisites for the position.
Strong quantitative, analytical and interpretive skills along with the ability to present the findings.
Proficient in using Microsoft Excel
Well versed with Internet searching and Microsoft Office.
Highly organized and structured worker with ability to work on multiple tasks at same time and ability to handle pressure at work.

Preferred:
Knowledge/ interest of energy markets or energy data desirable but not essential.
Interest in technology as a means to visualize, interrogate and report data.
Experience of working in the field of Energy or Commodity trade.

Basic Qualifications:
Any graduate or Post graduate candidate having background in Oil & Gas, Energy and Energy trade would be advantageous.
Any Graduate : BBA / B.Sc / B.Tech
Post-Graduation: PGDM/MBA (Streams Preferred - Any Stream with Energy, Oil & Gas, Energy trade as Major or Minor subject)
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and deliver with regard to fast deadlines.
Ability to interact with many levels and to face and deal with issues in a mature and professional manner.

Minimum and Preferred Experience:
0-3 years of experience
