Group Data and Architecture Office (DAO)
  • Data and Analytics Office (DAO) brings together some of the critical services that are used by all of HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s Global Businesses and Global Functions (GBGFs) into one organisation. Established to transform HSBC into a truly data-driven organisation by ensuring that every design decision has a built-in data consideration. As DAO we will provide leadership that enables data and analytics to be a key driver of our business strategy. Working closely to partnership with senior stakeholders and delivery teams all over the world to connect the business processes, data, products, services, and technology that underpin customer value and financial success. At the same time, we will work to drive consistency and simplification of our architecture.
  • The Group Data Privacy & Transfers Team sits within the DAO, providing guidance, advice, and oversight to HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s GBGFs on all privacy matters including cross border data transfers. As HSBC operates in 63 countries and territories, cross border data transfers are key to how we and our customers operate globally.
  • We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team to work on a range of data privacy related matters globally.
Role Purpose
  • This is an exciting time for Privacy in India and globally. Group Data Privacy & Transfers seeks an ambitious individual, based in Hyderabad, to play a key leadership role on a range of data privacy related matters. She / he will work closely with the Head of Group Data Privacy and Transfers on a range of privacy initiatives and will provide privacy advice and guidance to DAO stakeholders and to privacy leads in HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s GBGFs. The focus of this role will be global, but the successful candidate will have an opportunity to be a leading subject matter expert on India\xe2\x80\x99s DPDPA \xe2\x80\x93 supported by local and global Legal teams and Group Data Privacy. She / he will manage a local team, assisting on privacy matters globally, while acting as a local and regional privacy subject matter expert, helping reduce data privacy risk and driving adherence to HSBC Policy.
  • The role will require working closely with other strategic initiatives, providing practical advice on how best to support growth and innovation in a compliant and ethical manner.
  • The team seeks to ensure that data (including but not limited to personal data) is available to the business in a manner compliant with all applicable laws and regulations globally.
  • She / he will be responsible for managing a range of data privacy issues and providing fit for purpose solutions that enable Group DAO and broader teams to execute DAO data strategy. She/he will help set out our path to becoming a truly data-led organisation, where data underpin our business and technology goals.
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do:

Key Accountabilities
  • Act as a local and regional data privacy subject matter expert, guiding stakeholders locally and ensuring Group is aware of developments in updates to laws, regulations, and interpretation.
  • Performing privacy assessments of operational processes, identifying, and mitigating risks through effective tools, training, and guidance
  • Embedding and providing guidance on Data Privacy Controls locally and regionally
  • Assisting in developing, managing, and maintaining data standards, policies, and methodologies in line with Group Data Privacy Policy
  • Supporting the development and delivery of data privacy and protection controls based on data policies that assure the compliant use of data and information across the region.
  • Providing support in developing and administering guidance, training, and educational materials
  • Identify areas of improvement in local and regional practices relative to managing data privacy
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to plan future data privacy needs.
  • Acting as a role model on data privacy laws, working collaboratively with Data Legal to communicate on data risk policies.
  • Championing, raising awareness and understanding of HSBC Data Risk Policy and data privacy control framework.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:
  • Solid knowledge of major Laws and Regulations impacting data privacy globally such as the General Data Protection Regulation and key regional laws such as the Personal Information Protection Law and India\xe2\x80\x99s new Digital Data Protection Act
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, understand technology and commercial concepts quickly.
  • Enthusiasm for managing and developing members of the local privacy team.
  • Strong relationship\xe2\x80\x99s skills / ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership / responsibility for work and be comfortable working independently.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate privacy risks with the ability to understand materiality of risks and prioritise / differentiate response accordingly.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and environment.
  • An inquisitive mind, keen to understand of how customer data is used within the business.
