Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior GIS Data Migration Specialist with deep expertise in FME (Feature Manipulation Engine). This role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing robust FME workspaces and automated workflows for large-scale geospatial data migration and transformation. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical depth, domain knowledge, and the ability to lead complex migration initiatives across diverse GIS platforms, ensuring data quality, performance, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and execute data migration and ETL workflows using FME Form and FME Flow for GIS and utility datasets.

Migrate spatial data from multiple source formats (CAD, legacy GIS, databases) into ArcGIS Enterprise and Utility Network-ready data models.

Build and maintain schema mapping frameworks, including asset group and asset type transformations.

Automate data cleansing, validation, and topology checks using FME, ArcGIS Pro, and supporting scripts.

Ensure migrated data complies with enterprise GIS standards, domains, subtypes, and network rules.

Perform QA/QC validation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of spatial and attribute data.

Collaborate with GIS architects, analysts, and domain SMEs to translate business requirements into scalable data migration solutions.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex migration and integration issues.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including migration logic, validation rules, and data flow diagrams.

Support onsite coordination, issue resolution, and knowledge transfer activities during project execution.

Prepare documentation for workflows, processes, and project delivery.

Requirements:

6 to 8 years of experience in GIS, with at least 3+ years of hands-on expertise in FME.

Strong experience in Utility Network modelling and migration (ArcGIS Utility Network or equivalent).

Proven background in GIS data migration and transformation projects within the utilities domain.

Proficiency in spatial databases (PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, SQL Server Spatial, etc.).

In-depth understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and geospatial standards (OGC, ISO).

Strong knowledge of ArcGIS, QGIS, Smallworld or other enterprise GIS platforms.

Experience working with large utility datasets and performance optimization.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice To Have:

Experience with cloud-based GIS platforms (ArcGIS Online, AWS, Azure, GCP).

Scripting experience with Python or SQL for data automation in FME.

Exposure to data governance and compliance frameworks. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for complex GIS systems and applications.

Strong documentation and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical architectures to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
