Job Description


Roles and Responsibility
The purpose of this role is to:

  • Define and own the LCS data strategy
  • Drive business value for the data assets and support improved risk management and compliance in LCS.
  • Define data solutions and data delivery roadmaps to meet the evolving needs of the LCS practice areas.
  • Enable establishment of data-driven culture and processes in LCS to deliver enhanced productivity.
  • Define and maintain a data assurance programme to ensure data quality and integrity.
Strategy
  • Define and deliver a strategy to improve the availability, use and analysis of data to support strategic decision making.
  • Drive business value for the data assets to support improved risk management and compliance in LCS.
  • Define data solutions and data delivery roadmaps to meet the evolving needs of the LCS practice areas.
  • Enable the establishment of data-driven culture and processes in LCS.
Business
  • Create best practices, solution frameworks and techniques to deliver a next-generation data analytics outfit.
  • Guide the Data Engineering & Insights team in eliciting data requirements and identification of golden sources for data.
  • Establish data roadmaps, in conjunction with the Legal Risk & Policy and TTO teams to manage the LCS end-to-end data lifecycle.
  • Establish a data knowledge bank and advisory function to enable improved data insights and enhanced productivity across LCS.
  • Act as a thought leader for the data and reporting processes in LCS.
Processes
  • Liaise with the wider data community in establishing best practices, solution patterns and nimble data analytics solutions.
  • Perform horizon scanning on upcoming trends in data management practices, data science technologies and incorporate into ways of working.
  • Define and maintain a data assurance programme to enable data quality and integrity, and to support data driven decision making in LCS.
  • Lead / manage the build out of the data systems, strategy and pipeline of work; streamline the data delivery process across the function; and identify and implement methods to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Be client focused - evaluate business needs and objectives to deliver outputs that match or exceed the expectations.
  • Collaborate with TTO regarding the data infrastructure on maintenance and on relevant projects which impact Legal technology and data.
People & Talent
  • Lead the Data Engineering & Insights team in delivering the objectives.
  • Attract and retain talent to support creation of a best-in-class data solutions\xe2\x80\x99 team within LCS.
Risk Management
  • Embed compliance with data management risks, including data quality, secrecy, privacy, records management and AI ethics in the design and use of data solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with the risk management practices applicable for the role.
Governance
  • Support compliance of all relevant policies and procedures for data platforms and activities within remit.
  • Ensure timely escalation and remediation in the event of serious data breaches, or where risk tolerances have been breached.

  • Lead the Data Engineering & Insights team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Conduct Principles.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Science, or another relevant field.
  • Very strong experience as a data engineer or in a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with database & data lake design & technologies (e.g., SQL, or Azure, etc.).
  • Technical expertise with data models, data mining, data manipulation, data mapping and segmentation techniques.
  • Strong leadership qualities.
  • Strong communication skills, with confidence explaining complex concepts in a simple manner.
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills with experience of working with senior stakeholders.
  • Great numerical and analytical / problem-solving skills.
  • Exemplary integrity, ethics, independence and resilience.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters at all levels of the organisation with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Good requirements gathering skills.
  • Good knowledge of information security and information privacy best practices.
  • Working knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL or Java, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Big data technologies, cloud concepts and data engineering techniques and tools.
  • Data engineering certification (e.g. IBM Certified Data Engineer) is desirable.
  • Knowledge of service desk principles or certification (e.g. ITIL) is desirable.
