satisfaction.
The goal of EG Advertising (EGA) Tech team is to spearhead advertising products and services across many Expedia brands including BEX, Hotels.com, Portfolio
Brands (COMET & Hotwire.com), Expedia Partner Sites (EPS), and Vrbo. We help our advertisers identify travelers on EG sites, target specific traveller criteria, and then deliver the most relevant products.
In this role, you will:
Collaborate with business stakeholders to align technology with business outcomes.
Solve complex technical issues and conduct day-to-day engineering tasks.
Share domain knowledge with cross-functional teams.
Assist and guide junior associates in their tasks.
Advocate for removing technical roadblocks to ensure long-term team success
Demonstrate leadership and positive impact beyond your immediate team
Design integrated solutions by combining applications, databases, and technology platforms (specifically related to data engineering, cloud data platforms and data models)
Experience and qualifications:
Bachelor's or Masters degree in a Technical field; or equivalent related professional experience
2+ years of experience developing data and software solutions
You are strong in a programming language relevant to data (e.g. Scala, Java, Python)
Hands-on experience with tools like Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow or similar technologies.
Understanding of both NoSQL and SQL databases, such as MongoDB or Elastic Search and Hive
Experience in building data pipelines, preferably in cloud environments.
You are familiar with traditional RDBMS system vs. distributed sytems and awareness of modern data access patterns
You understand how projects fit together within your team.
You understand moderately complex systems.
You test and monitor code. You understand how to test and monitor tools
Experience with Agile methodologies and tools, such as Jira or Scrum.
You can debug applications. You understand how teams' goals fit a business need.
You understand data access patterns, streaming technology, data validation.
