Job Description

A Data Analyst with a strong mathematics background is responsible for collecting, processing, analyzing, and interpreting complex data to help organizations make informed decisions. Leveraging mathematical and statistical techniques, they build models, identify trends, and provide actionable insights that support business strategy and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Data Collection & Cleaning

: Gather raw data from multiple sources, clean and validate datasets for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.

Statistical Analysis

: Apply advanced mathematical and statistical techniques (regression, probability, hypothesis testing, optimization) to interpret data patterns.

Data Visualization

: Create dashboards, charts, and reports using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Python libraries (Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly).

Predictive Modeling

: Develop forecasting and machine learning models to support decision-making.

Business Insights

: Translate complex data findings into simple, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

Database Management

: Write queries using SQL to extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets.

Collaboration

: Work with cross-functional teams (marketing, finance, operations, IT) to support data-driven strategies.

Research & Development

: Use mathematical optimization and quantitative methods to solve real-world business problems.

Core Skills & Competencies

Mathematics & Statistics

: Strong foundation in probability, linear algebra, calculus, optimization, and statistical inference.

Programming

: Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and Excel for data manipulation and analysis.

Data Visualization

: Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik) and visualization libraries.

Machine Learning (basic to intermediate)

: Familiarity with algorithms such as regression, classification, clustering, and time series forecasting.

Problem-Solving

: Ability to apply mathematical reasoning to business challenges.

Communication

: Skilled in presenting technical findings to non-technical audiences.

Attention to Detail

: Strong analytical mindset with accuracy in data interpretation.

Educational Background

Bachelor's / Master's in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or related field.

Certifications in data analytics are an added advantage.
