Job Description

The Dark Store Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of a dark store--a retail distribution center that supports online orders only (no walk-in customers). The manager ensures efficient order fulfillment, inventory management, team supervision, and operational excellence to meet service level agreements (SLAs), delivery timelines, and customer satisfaction targets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operations Management

Manage and streamline daily store operations, including order picking, packing, and dispatch. Ensure timely fulfillment of online customer orders with a focus on accuracy and efficiency. Coordinate with last-mile delivery teams and logistics partners for smooth dispatch.

2. Inventory Control

Oversee stock levels, replenishment cycles, and minimize shrinkage. Conduct periodic inventory audits and ensure system accuracy. Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to manage in-bound stock.

3. Team Leadership

Recruit, train, and supervise a team of pickers, packers, and support staff. Schedule shifts and assign tasks to ensure adequate manpower. Motivate and evaluate team performance, enforce discipline and workplace safety.

4. Customer Focus & Quality Assurance

Ensure all orders meet quality standards (right item, packaging, freshness if groceries). Handle escalations or order issues reported by customer support or logistics. Drive improvements to enhance customer satisfaction scores.

5. Process Improvement & Compliance

Identify bottlenecks and implement best practices to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, hygiene standards, and company policies. Leverage warehouse management systems (WMS) and analytics for operational insights.
