The Client's products include TurboTax's tax preparation application, the personal finance app Mint, the small business accounting program QuickBooks, the credit monitoring service Credit Karma and the email marketing platform Mailchimp.
About The Job:

• You'll curate and validate accounting data, define quality bars, create complex accounting scenarios for model training and collaborate with AI researchers/engineers to ensure outputs are accurate, explainable, and audit-ready, demonstrating strategic insights and recommendations for model training. Your scope spans three domains:

• Transactional bookkeeping: categorization, AP/AR flows, payroll, and reconciliations.
• Tax & compliance: quarterly estimates, return preparation inputs, compliance signals, and audit support.
• Reporting, FP&A & strategy: financial statements, KPI interpretation, budgeting/forecasting, variance analyses, and executive summaries.

Essential Job Functions:

• Map the 'jobs to be done' (JTBD) of accounting
• Curate & label high-quality datasets aimed at model training and evaluation
• Define guidelines & evaluation suites (gold sets, pass/fail criteria, regression checks) that are interface-agnostic and repeatable.
• Conduct error analysis to spotlight model's areas for improvement
• Design "hard cases" for LLMs including edge, ambiguous, and adversarial scenarios; capture decision logic and trigger HITL pathways when needed.
• Run data quality ops (spot checks, audits, inter-rater agreement) and uphold trust principles: accuracy, explainability, and privacy.
• Partner cross-functionally with product/engineering/research on taxonomy alignment, coverage, and model behavior.

Qualifications:

• Active US CPA (good standing) or Chartered Accountant; 5+ years in accounting, audit, or controllership with strong SMB and mid-market exposure.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP; strength in accruals, revenue recognition basics for services, capitalization thresholds, and end-to-end AP/AR cycles.
• Tax planning for SMBs & medium enterprises: quarterly estimates, entity considerations (S-Corp/partnership/C-Corp), multi-state basics, audit readiness.
• FP&A skills: budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
• Proven ability to transform messy source documents into clean, justified labels with consistent reasoning.
• Experience constructing hard/adversarial datasets to probe LLM reasoning limits.
• Tools: spreadsheets/SQL; familiarity with analytics/ML workflows; QuickBooks or similar platforms.

Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (accredited institution).
Active US CPA license (in good standing) -- meets the 150-semester-hour education requirement (via BAcc + additional coursework or MAcc).
Solid grounding in US GAAP and SMB/mid-market accounting (AP/AR, payroll, revenue recognition basics).
Preferred
Master of Accountancy (MAcc) or MBA with Accounting/Analytics/Finance concentration.
Enrolled Agent (EA) for tax depth; CMA or FP&A credential for planning/analysis.
Coursework or certification in data/analytics (statistics, SQL, data management) and familiarity with QuickBooks or similar.
Demonstrated CPE focus (e.g., US GAAP, SMB taxation, multi-state basics, data/AI in accounting).
International candidates

• CA (India) plus US CPA (active or all CPA exams passed) with a clear path to licensure within 6-12 months.
