The CTVS Staff Nurse in Recovery is responsible for providing specialized post-operative nursing care to patients undergoing cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries. The role involves close monitoring, early detection of complications, and coordination with the surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure safe recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive post-operative nursing care to CTVS patients in recovery/ICU
Monitor vital signs, hemodynamic parameters, oxygen saturation, and ECG
Manage ventilated and non-ventilated post-cardiac surgery patients
Administer medications, IV fluids, inotropes, and blood products as prescribed
Care for chest tubes, central lines, arterial lines, pacing wires, and drains
Maintain strict aseptic techniques to prevent infections
Assess pain levels and provide appropriate pain management
Identify early signs of complications such as bleeding, arrhythmias, hypotension, or respiratory distress
Maintain accurate nursing records and documentation
Assist doctors during emergency situations and procedures
Provide patient and family education regarding post-operative care
Follow hospital protocols, safety guidelines, and infection control policies.
