Equipment Operation and Maintenance
Operating Scanners:
Operating advanced imaging equipment, including CT scanners and MRI machines, to perform diagnostic imaging procedures as per physician's or radiologist's instructions.
Image Acquisition and Quality Control:
Selecting appropriate software options and imaging parameters, and reviewing the captured images to ensure high quality and diagnostic requirements are met.
Equipment Maintenance:
Performing routine maintenance checks, troubleshooting technical issues that may arise, and coordinating with biomedical engineers for calibration and repairs. B
Documentation and Collaboration
Record Keeping:
Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records, including patient information, scan results, and procedures performed, often using PACS/RIS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems / Radiology Information Systems).
Collaboration:
Working closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Reporting:
Issuing the MRI/CT plates and reports to the patient and maintaining records for the department.
Protocol Adherence:
Ensuring strict adherence to radiation safety guidelines, hospital policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to protect patients, staff, and themselves from unnecessary exposure.
Safety Screening:
Screening patients for any safety contraindications, especially for MRI scans (e.g., metal implants, pacemakers).
Positioning and Monitoring:
Correctly positioning patients and the equipment to capture accurate images of specific body areas. They monitor patients during the scan and respond immediately to any discomfort or medical emergency.
Contrast Media Administration:
Preparing and, in some cases, administering contrast media (dyes) as required for certain procedures, and monitoring for any adverse reactions.
