Job Description

Patient Care:

Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in CTICU, including pre- and post-operative cardiothoracic and cardiac surgery patients. Monitor and interpret vital signs, hemodynamic parameters, ventilator settings, and cardiac rhythms. Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other therapeutic interventions safely. Assist in procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, chest tube management, etc. Manage emergency situations including cardiac arrest, arrhythmias, and hemodynamic instability.

Equipment Handling:

Operate and maintain ICU equipment such as ventilators, defibrillators, syringe pumps, infusion pumps, IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump), and cardiac monitors. Ensure proper functioning, calibration, and reporting of faulty equipment.

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate and timely nursing notes, charts, and patient records. Communicate effectively with physicians, colleagues, and patient families about patient status and care plans.

Infection Control & Safety:

Follow strict infection control protocols, hand hygiene, and sterile techniques. Adhere to hospital policies and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

Teamwork & Education:

Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, intensivists, and other healthcare professionals for coordinated patient care. Participate in staff training, continuing education, and quality improvement activities.
