Job Summary:



The CT Technician is responsible for performing high-quality CT (Computed Tomography) scans to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. The role involves preparing patients, operating CT scanners, ensuring image quality, maintaining equipment, and following safety protocols including radiation protection standards.

Key Responsibilities:



1. CT Imaging Operations:



Perform CT scans as per physician/radiologist instructions. Select appropriate imaging techniques, protocols, and contrast agents based on the clinical indication. Position patients correctly to ensure optimal imaging outcomes.

2. Patient Care & Preparation:



Prepare patients physically and emotionally for the scan procedure. Explain the procedure, obtain informed consent, and screen for contraindications (e.g., allergies to contrast). Monitor patient condition during and after the scan, especially in cases involving contrast media.

3. Equipment Handling & Maintenance:



Operate CT scanner and related systems safely and efficiently. Perform regular equipment checks and basic maintenance; report any malfunction promptly. Ensure calibration and quality control procedures are followed regularly.

4. Image Quality & Documentation:



Ensure high-quality diagnostic images are produced. Assist radiologists with image transfer, formatting, and documentation. Maintain accurate patient records and scan reports in the PACS/RIS system.

5. Safety & Compliance:



Adhere to radiation safety and infection control protocols. Follow guidelines set by AERB, NABH, and hospital policies. Use lead shields, personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain controlled access during scan procedures.

6. Emergency Handling:



Recognize and respond to contrast reactions, patient distress, or medical emergencies during procedures. Collaborate with the emergency response team when required.

Qualifications & Experience:



Education:

Diploma / B.Sc. in Radiography / Medical Imaging Technology with CT specialization.

Certification:

AERB certification mandatory; BLS (Basic Life Support) preferred.

Experience:

1-3 years of experience operating CT machines in a hospital setting preferred.

Skills:

Proficient in handling CT equipment and digital imaging software Attention to detail and patient-focused attitude Effective communication and teamwork
