The CT Technician is responsible for performing CT (Computed Tomography) scans as per the physician's instructions, ensuring high-quality imaging, patient safety, and proper equipment maintenance. The technician must adhere to all radiation safety protocols and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities:
CT Scan Operations
Perform CT scans as prescribed by the radiologist or referring physician.
Position patients properly to obtain accurate and clear diagnostic images.
Set up and operate CT machines and related equipment.
Patient Care & Safety
Explain procedures to patients and ensure their comfort during scanning.
Follow radiation safety measures and use lead shielding as required.
Monitor patients for any adverse reactions to contrast materials.
Technical Responsibilities
Ensure proper calibration and functioning of the CT equipment.
Maintain records of all procedures and daily machine logbooks.
Assist radiologists in reviewing and processing CT images.
Documentation & Reporting
Record patient and scan details accurately in the system.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and reports.
Assist in maintaining inventory of contrast materials and supplies.
Coordination & Support
Coordinate with the radiology department, nursing staff, and referring doctors.
Support in training junior technicians or interns when required.
Qualifications & Experience:
Diploma / B.Sc. in Radiology / Medical Imaging Technology.
CT certification preferred.
Minimum 1-2 years of experience operating CT scanners in a hospital or diagnostic center.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of radiologic procedures and safety standards.
Good communication and patient-handling skills.
Ability to work accurately under pressure.
Familiarity with PACS and HIS systems.
