Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Decontamination: Thoroughly clean and decontaminate all used instruments and equipment before sterilization, removing any organic matter or debris.
Sterilization: Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves, to ensure instruments are sterilized according to established protocols and standards.
Packaging: Properly package sterilized instruments for surgery and other procedures, maintaining their sterility until use.
Quality Control: Monitor the effectiveness of sterilization processes, conduct quality assurance checks, and maintain detailed logs and records.
Inventory Management: Manage and track supplies, ensuring adequate stock of instruments and other necessary items for the hospital.
Maintenance and Equipment Care: Ensure sterilization equipment is functioning correctly and report any malfunctions promptly.
Collaboration: Work closely with surgical teams and other departments to understand their needs for sterile instruments and supplies.
Infection Control: Adhere strictly to infection control standards and safety protocols to prevent cross-contamination and maintain a sterile environment.
