Position Purpose

The position shall be responsible for developing and driving strategies & business plans for the assigned crop segment, thereby contributing to business growth in the markets of business interest to PI Industries. The position holder shall also drive product sales of select products that are strategically fit for the assigned crop by closely collaborating with other departments\' viz. sales / marketing / supply chain & operations / product development.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of strategies and business plans for the crop by utilizing agronomic knowledge of the crop, knowledge of PI products and market potential for PI in the assigned crop segment.
  • Act as a crop specialist, maintain thorough and detailed knowledge of different agricultural techniques, products, and technological advancements in relation to the crop across geographies aligned to markets of business interest for PI.
  • Monitor and track trends in crops, competitor products, provide key inputs to business leaders and product development teams for enhancing crop campaign plans and marketability of assigned products to increase PI\'s market share in crop segment.
  • Collaborate with extended teams\' viz. Product Acquisition, Product Development, Sales (Regional / Zonal / Corporate teams), Field Marketing, Registration, Supply Chain, Finance and Operations for facilitation of existing and new business opportunities.
  • Keep abreast of factors that impact PI\'s business in the crop segment (e.g. changes in regulatory environment or economic policy, shifts in consumer preferences, climatic changes / technological advancements affecting crop production) and suggest pre-emptive solutions to remain competitive and sustain business in the markets of interest to PI.
Operational Responsibilities
  • Participate in sales planning and review meetings with an aim to drive product sales of assigned PI products catering to the crop segment.
  • Prepare MIS reports and dashboards to report key metrics for the crop segment in order to measure progress against business plans and status of assigned strategic projects.
  • Respond in a timely and accurate manner to routine crop and product queries for crop segment.
  • Lead resolution of customer complaints related to quality / field performance of products in the crop segment in a timely and complete manner.
  • Develop and drive knowledge management initiatives by creating, maintaining and updating relevant technical and commercial information relating to the crop.
  • Develop and publish reports and insights on competitor actions, products in the market catering to the crop segment assigned.
  • Prepare and share impact assessment reports for crop campaigns and share insights for future improvements.
  • Participate in market visits and customer meets along with sales personnel with an aim to champion PI products and learn about customer expectations from the product with a view to incorporate learning into next year business plan and strategy.
  • Attend seminars, conferences and network professionally to learn about emerging market and crop trends, new technologies in crop production, pesticides and related products.
  • Participate in or lead strategic projects that contribute to responsible use of products both within and outside the organization by adhering to product stewardship guidelines.
  • Develop in-house talent by providing mentoring and training on crop, related products.
Financial Responsibilities
  • Plan, track and report on budget utilization and variances, ensure judicious use of allocated budgets.
  • Participate / lead improvement projects that are aimed at optimizing costs, maximizing value from investments made.
People Responsibilities
  • Attend trainings as imparted by HR, lead professional development by engaging in continuous learning initiatives
Education Qualification

BSc AG / MSc Ag + MBA (Preferred) (Marketing / Operations)

Work Experience

10-15 years of overall experience, of which 3 - 5 years\' experience in sales/ product marketing of agro products required. Exposure to top 5 leading states for the crop is essential.

  • Through knowledge of crop agronomy, crop management practices, impact of pests on crops, integrated pest management techniques.
  • Excellent product knowledge (related to the crop segment) - in terms of product offerings, technical know-how, features, benefits etc.
  • Good knowledge of the market (Indian / Global markets for crop, customer requirements, competitor products & pricing, market potential )
  • Working knowledge of environment impact assessment (how to measure and mitigate the impact of products on the environment.
  • Working Knowledge of market research tools and techniques, product life cycle management.
