Project Green Hands (PGH), the environmental branch of Isha, has grown out of a deep concern for the global effects of deforestation and land degradation. PGH wants Tamil Nadu to be a beacon of environmental responsibility, illustrating what is possible when people take action now to save their environment.

AYUSH-Isha Organic Health Systems is a pioneering project launched by Isha Outreach in collaboration with the government of India\'s AYUSH department. The holistic programs are aimed at improving the health of the rural population, while simultaneously ensuring a model of sustainable healthcare.

Purpose of the Job

The job carries an objective to enhance the production, optimise the costs, improve the productivity of the farmer members, and provide agriculture extension services. The position is needed to encourage, guide and train the farmer members to achieve the above objectives for themselves as an organisation. The position is also responsible for converging with central and state level govt. Schemes in order to benefit the FPO.

Job Responsibilities

1. Conduct baseline and related studies as necessary for the project / FPOs.
2. Collect and analyze crop data for the FPO members.
3. Work on methods and approaches to enhance both agriculture production and productivity of the FPO members.
4. Work on developing the commodity value chain approach for the FPOs.
5. Conduct capacity-building programs as and when required.
6. Liaison with various stakeholders like Agriculture extension officers, and other value chain players.
7. Participate in meetings and workshops to share the learning from the project.
8. Coordinate with Project Manager/ District Coordination and participate in the monthly meeting for review, planning, and effective implementation.
9. Prepare progress reports and plans (Monthly, Quarterly & Annual) for submission.
10. Prepare case studies and process documentation.
11.Periodically update knowledge on latest best practices & facilitate an introduction to farmers as relevant.
12. Create demonstration of post-harvesting techniques.
13. Provide valuable information on crop-specific pest/disease management.
14. Providing guidance in Input shops.
15. Exploring new varieties of seed materials.

Required Competencies

Educational Qualification : Graduate Skill Competencies : 1. Ideal candidate should have worked in self-help groups and must be familiar with the work practices of FPOs.
2. Must have good communication skills and a natural affinity to farming & agriculture.
3. Must enjoy traveling, meeting and engaging with farmers closely.
4. Must possess strong crop knowledge and constantly keep oneself updated with the latest trends.
5. Preferably good proficiency over MS Office, MIS, Communication systems and social media.
6. Candidate must be comfortable with the local language apart from fluency over English Language.
7. Ideal candidates will also be familiar with the Isha Foundation & the AgroMovement work of the last 14 years.
8. Would be preferable if the candidate\'s goals were in alignment with the goals of the Isha Outreach program.
