: Female Counsellor for Trauma Recovery of Women
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Female Counsellor for Trauma Recovery of Women to provide psychological support and counselling services to women from various gender-based violence backgrounds in vulnerable communities, including brothel areas, shelters, and institutions across Mumbai and Thane. The counsellor will play a critical role in helping survivors of trauma navigate their healing journey and rebuild their lives.
Responsibilities:
u Provide individual and group counselling sessions to women victims/survivors of gender-based violence, including domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and exploitation.
u Conduct comprehensive trauma assessments to understand the psychological, emotional, and social needs of survivors.
u Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on clients' specific needs, goals, and trauma history.
u Conduct psychoeducational workshops and support groups to empower survivors and enhance their coping skills.
u Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting progress, treatment plans, and interventions in accordance with professional standards and organizational policies.
u Stay updated with the latest research, best practices, and trauma-informed care approaches to enhance counselling techniques and knowledge.
u Participate in supervision, team meetings, and training sessions to enhance professional development and ensure quality service provision.
Qualifications and Skills:
A minimum of a Bachelor's /Master's degree in Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
Certification or specialization in trauma-focused therapy or counselling is highly desirable.
Proven experience in providing counselling or therapy to survivors of trauma, particularly women who have experienced gender-based violence.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), etc.
Familiarity with the socio-cultural dynamics and challenges faced by vulnerable communities, including brothel areas and shelters. Willingness to travel in the field and the respective areas
Excellent communication and active listening skills, with the ability to empathize and establish rapport with survivors.
Strong organizational and time management skills to handle a caseload of clients and meet documentation requirements.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, practice self-care, and seek supervision when needed.
Fluency in English and local languages commonly spoken in Mumbai and Thane.
