Job Description

1. Program Planning

  • Establish and organize the school/home counseling program by assessing needs and setting goals.
  • Formulate a plan of action and program evaluations.
  • Initiate and coordinate school-wide guidance and counseling activities.
  • Seek input from teachers and staff in making decisions about the school counseling program.
  • Assists teachers with the educational placement of students by using appropriate educational assessment strategies.
  • Execute Individual Care plan
2. Mentoring and Counseling:
  • Provide counselling, instruction, and mentoring for those struggling with social , emotional , and behavioural problem
  • Increase achievement by assessing barriers to learning and determining the best instructional strategies to improve learning.
  • Promote wellness and social skills, problem solving, anger management, self-regulation, self-determination, and optimism.
  • Provide individual and group counseling services to meet the developmental, preventive, and remedial needs of all El Shaddai Charitable Trust students.
  • Make social investigation/case histories of children through personal interviews and from the family, social agencies, and other sources - Home study report
  • Focus on enabling the child to adjust to the home, school and the new environment and identification of behavioral and psychological disorder.
  • Establish a counselling laboratory, Psychological testing, clinical/behavioural counselling.
  • Develop Individual care plan/career counselling for every child in homes and shelters with regard to the child's present and future need and requirement mental health organisation in case if the child needs medication/hospitalization/necessary services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of counseling theories and use appropriate assessment and diagnostic procedures for determining and structuring individual and group counseling services.
3. Consulting
  • Assists parents, In Charges and teachers in understanding and responding to developmental levels of students
  • Present instructional/informational programs to group of students, parents, and teachers (e.g., parent education programs, group guidance, teacher in-service).
  • Increase children's confidence and gain their trust to share their problems, help them cope with painful emotions, and deal with their difficulties in institutional life.
  • Encourage and motivate the children through behavior modification exercises.
4 Coordinating and communicating.
  • Coordinate all counseling services for students and assists with the same.
  • Advocate all students and assist teachers with the integration of Guidance Curriculum.
  • Share appropriate information about students with school personnel, parents, and agencies
  • Make appropriate referrals of students to school and community programs
  • Identify and communicate with special children (disabled, dyslexics, ADHD, etc.)
8.5 : Student Admission and Appraisal
  • Carry out the admission process with a sponsorship representative.
  • Administer the student's life cycle from admission, to the exit of the child.
  • Interpret test results and other student data accurately.
  • Conduct non-standardized educational assessment according to professional practices (e.g., classroom observation)
  • Use appropriate standardized tests and inventories according to published practices and professional standards.
8.6 : Professional Practices and Development
  • Adhere to ethical standards of the counseling profession
  • Follow the laws, policies, and procedures which govern ESCT programs
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills
8.7: Reporting and documentation.
  • Maintain an organized, functional, and up-to-date office/counseling center
  • Maintain an updated list of the children along with the legal documents.
  • Prepare psychological/clinical report on traumatized children and counseling them.
  • Develop and maintain the child profile with confidentiality.
  • Supervise child's quarterly and annual reports with the Sponsorship representative.
8.8 : Miscellaneous:
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.
