As a Counsellor at Chandigarh University, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support to students, faculty, and staff members. Your primary role will be to listen to and understand the concerns and challenges that individuals are facing, and to provide appropriate guidance and resources to help them address these issues. This may include academic, personal, or emotional challenges, and you will be expected to have a thorough understanding of the various resources available to support individuals in overcoming these obstacles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual counselling sessions to students
- Conduct group counselling sessions to address common concerns and provide support to multiple individuals at once
- Develop and implement support programs and workshops to address specific issues or challenges facing the university community
- Collaborate with other university departments and external resources to provide comprehensive support to individuals in need
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions and assessments
- Stay up-to-date on best practices in counselling and mental health support, and continually seek professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge
- Act as a resource and advocate for individuals with mental health concerns, and provide information on available support services and resources
Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in counselling, psychology, social work, or a related field
- Proven experience in providing counselling or mental health support
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Empathy and a genuine desire to help individuals overcome challenges and reach their full potential
- Knowledge of relevant laws and ethical standards in counselling and mental health support
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of individuals and departments
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
