The Costing Engineer (Operations) is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and quotations for fire safety projects based on BOQs, tender documents, and drawings. The role requires strong technical knowledge of fire protection systems and close coordination with operations, procurement, and project teams to ensure competitive and compliant pricing.
Key ResponsibilitiesCosting & Estimation
Prepare detailed
cost estimates and quotations
based on:
BOQs
Approved drawings
Tender documents and technical specifications
Analyze project requirements and scope for
fire fighting, fire alarm, and fire suppression systems
.
Prepare
rate analysis
for materials, labour, testing, commissioning, and overheads.
Ensure quotations are
technically compliant and commercially competitive
.
Technical Knowledge (Fire Safety)
Sound understanding of fire safety systems including:
Hydrant & sprinkler systems
Fire alarm systems
Pumps, panels, detectors, valves, piping & accessories
Knowledge of relevant
IS codes, NBC guidelines, and fire authority norms
.
Assist in selecting appropriate makes and specifications as per project and tender requirements.
BOQ & Drawing Interpretation
Read and interpret
AutoCAD drawings
and tender BOQs.
Identify missing items or scope gaps and highlight them to management.
Cross-check quantities between drawings and BOQs.
Coordination & Operations Support
Coordinate with:
Project / site engineers
Procurement & vendors
Management for approvals
Support operations team with
cost control and budget monitoring
.
Assist in
variation pricing, extra item costing, and revised quotations
.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain proper records of:
Cost sheets
Vendor quotations
Approved rates and historical data
Prepare comparison statements and cost summaries.
Ensure timely submission of quotations and revisions.
