The Cost Accountant is responsible for planning, analyzing, and controlling cost-related activities within the organization. This role ensures accurate cost estimation, effective cost management, and supports management with data-driven insights for budgeting and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Costing & Analysis
Prepare and maintain cost sheets, product costing, and variance analysis.
Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs to identify deviations and areas for improvement.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in preparing annual budgets and cost forecasts.
Monitor budget versus actual costs and highlight variances to management.
Provide insights for improving cost efficiency and profitability.
3. MIS & Reporting
Prepare monthly MIS reports related to cost, margins, and profitability.
Present cost analysis reports to management for strategic decisions.
Support internal and statutory audits with required data.
4. Cost Control & Process Improvement
Implement cost-saving initiatives and recommend process improvements.
Ensure compliance with company policies and cost accounting standards.
Work closely with procurement and finance teams for effective cost management.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting (B.Com / M.Com).
Professional qualification preferred: ICWA / CMA.
Minimum 2 years of experience in cost accounting or related roles.
Strong analytical and numerical skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting/ERP software.
Good knowledge of costing methods, financial analysis, and inventory management.
Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
