Job Description

As a Lead Firmware Engineer (IC5) on the Wearables Core OS Team, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing firmware and operating system components for Meta's wearable devices. Your primary focus will be on building robust firmware features and system-level components that directly interact with hardware. You will collaborate closely with hardware, embedded software, and product teams to deliver secure, high-performance solutions that enable next-generation immersive experiences.

CoreOS Firmware Lead Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and maintain core firmware and OS components for wearable devices, focusing on hardware integration and system-level functionality Collaborate with hardware, embedded software, and product teams to integrate new features and optimize end-to-end system performance Drive investigation and resolution of complex issues related to firmware and device-hardware communication Ensure high code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and monitoring Document technical designs, implementation details, and best practices for internal teams Champion efforts to reduce technical debt and improve system maintainability Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in firmware, embedded OS, and device management

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field 7+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on firmware, embedded systems, or OS components Proven experience designing and implementing firmware features and device management Demonstrated programming skills in C/C++ and experience with embedded development environments Good understanding of hardware-software integration and system-level debugging Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver complex system software Demonstrated analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with wearable device firmware and embedded OS frameworks Familiarity with Android OS internals, embedded Linux, or RTOS development Proficiency in additional programming or scripting languages such as Shell, Rust, or Python Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale projects from concept to production Demonstrated communication and documentation skills
