The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing delicious vegetarian dishes while ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, and cleanliness in the kitchen. This role involves both cooking and assisting with various kitchen tasks to support the smooth operation of the kitchen. Responsibilities:
- Prepare a variety of vegetarian dishes according to recipes, ensuring freshness, taste, and presentation meet established standards.
- Execute proper food handling and sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping vegetables, measuring ingredients, and preparing sauces.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan and organize daily meal preparations.
- Monitor food inventory and notify the chef or supervisor of shortages or discrepancies.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and utensils in good condition, reporting any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper storage and labeling of food items.
- Follow portion control guidelines to minimize waste and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Uphold high standards of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas.
- Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries, ensuring proper rotation of stock.
- Provide support during peak hours by assisting with food preparation, plating, and serving as needed.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the chef or kitchen supervisor.
- Proven experience working as a cook or kitchen helper, preferably in a vegetarian kitchen or restaurant environment.
- Strong understanding of vegetarian cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, with the ability to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow recipes accurately.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Certification in food handling and safety (preferred).
- Passion for vegetarian cuisine and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
