We are seeking a skilled and experienced Deli Cook to join our deli team ideally someone with prior experience in American-style cuisine (sandwiches, burgers, wraps). The candidate should be passionate about food, maintain high standards of cleanliness, and deliver great taste and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook a variety of deli menu items including sandwiches, burgers, wraps following recipes and presentation standards. Jooble+2cohosmarket.com+2
Slice, chop, grill or assemble ingredients (buns, patties, vegetables, cheese, sauces, etc.) as per order requirements.
Ensure food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards are followed clean and sanitize work stations, utensils, equipment, and ensure safe food handling.
Manage prep work and inventory restock supplies, check ingredient freshness, and alert management when items run low.
Provide friendly customer service when required take sandwich/burger orders, assist with customisation, and ensure orders are served correctly and timely (for dine-in or take-away).
Work collaboratively with other kitchen/deli staff help maintain smooth kitchen operations during busy periods.
Qualifications / Skills Required:
Previous experience working in a deli, fast-food, cafe or restaurant kitchen especially with American-style sandwiches, burgers or similar items (preferred). Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and sanitation practices.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; handle multiple orders, multitask and maintain quality under pressure.
Strong communication skills and customer-service orientation friendly, courteous, able to interact with customers when needed.
Physical stamina able to stand for long hours, perform slicing, chopping, lifting stocks or supplies, etc.
Flexibility to work varied hours including busy periods, weekends, evenings or peak meal times
Preferred (but not mandatory):
Familiarity with American-style cuisine burgers, deli sandwiches, wraps, sauces, etc.
Basic knowledge of grill / sandwich-making equipment (grill, fryer, sandwich press, slicers)
Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency in taste and presentation
Positive attitude, team-player mindset, eager to learn and adapt
Working Conditions / Physical Demands:
Work in a kitchen / deli environment where there may be heat (grill, fryer), slicing/chopping, lifting, standing for long hours.
Must adhere to hygiene and safety standards at all times.
