The business area: The Production & Digital Studio team for Higher Education is accountable for the successful end-to-end production of our Higher Education and other courseware across all formats and product models including print, eBooks, rich media, simulations/games, current generation digital supplemental products, and next generation integrated digital products, as well as oversight of Pearson rights & permissions, courseware quality assurance, and global content solutions. The 500+ employee organization currently produces over 2000 PC/mobile software and print titles annually across multiple Pearson geographic locations worldwide augmented by thousands of vendors and freelancers around the world. The team: The Production & Digital Studio team for Higher Education provides portfolio management processes and strategic analysis to support the company in achieving our goals and driving our long-term, sustainable growth with improved learner outcomes. It does this by:

  • Partnering with portfolio area, product management, sales and marketing, and technology leadership teams to resolve strategic issues and opportunities and to drive product strategies.
  • Providing transparency into and analysis of Pearson’s Higher Education portfolio, including product-level investments.
  • Creating a consistent and data-driven approach to production processes and investment governance across Pearson
  • Providing product and geographic-related subject expertise, market insights and portfolio.
The role: The Content Producer works end-to-end on content for all planned resources for allocated titles, ensuring content is in line with Pearson policies and that publication happens on schedule and within budget. What you will do:
  • Work on all stages of the production process from manuscript delivery through to final publication (print and digital projects), including liaising with author and internal stakeholders on editorial, production and rights & permissions related queries.
  • Ensure content is in line with Pearson policies.
  • Work with Rights & Permissions team to ensure timely clearance of all third-party content and liaising with author to replace any uncleared content with assets from preferred sources as required.
  • Hire/manage appropriate freelancers (copy-editors, proofreaders, indexers, translators and suppliers/vendors (typesetting).
  • Manage project schedules and budget for areas of responsibility.
  • Learn how to work in different platforms/tools to deliver content digitally – full training/support will be provided.
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work according to changing needs
  • Good numerical skills to support budget planning and cost management
  • Ability to communicate clearly with authors, freelancers, suppliers/vendors and internal staff
  • Keen attention to detail to ensure production of a quality product in line with Pearson policies
  • Excellent French and English oral and written communication skills
  • A desire to learn more about digital production (e.g., ebooks, courseware, etc.)
  • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • 4 or more years editorial experience, preferably in higher education academic publishing
  • Experience and proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with Smartsheet or other project management tools would be beneficial
