About our Team

The Data Platform Operations team within Data Operations Department Elsevier is responsible for ensuring that Secondary electronic content is correctly processed, loaded, and available on Elsevier\'s product websites for the end user customers.

About the Role

The Content Expert is a team member of the Data Platform Operations team within the Data Operations department and is mainly responsible for content management. The Content Expert manages content on Elsevier\'s external websites for customers such as Funding Institutional, SciVal, PURE, Scopus, Engineering Village, and content in systems.

Responsibilities

Assess, Execute and Process Improvement of Content Management:

  • Primary assessment of content improvement requests (drafting of procedure and workflow).
  • Develop and document workflows.
  • Discuss process improvement activities with other related parties.
  • Review and gain approvals for new and existing content improvement and/or change requests to safeguard existing content strategy and/or support new business.
  • Control new/existing content and new content requirements as specified by the Business to mutually agree on final content requirements.
  • Process improvement activities to reduce costs.
Data Improvement:
  • Create and maintain documents and workflow instructions for suppliers.
  • Create code (Python/SQL/JSON/XML) to use new format sources (when source format changes or is new) to create and validate data.
  • Create and/or provide input and process instructions to Supplier Managers and/or instruct external suppliers directly in cases with high level of urgency. These instructions are part of general Supplier Instruction documents (Supplier Gateway).
  • Provide and develop solutions to new identified content errors and existing errors.
Workflow Quality control and target QC:
  • Create and/or advise Project Owners on the set-up of quality KPIs for new workflows based on business requirements.
  • Create targeted QC checks and analysis for new and existing workflows.
  • Document and develop work instructions for updates of content specifications for suppliers.
  • Execute on-the-job training of work instructions to external Suppliers.
  • Be a content expert and be able to articulate the content features in a simple and intuitive way to both internal and external stake holders.
Requirements
  • Enjoy collaborating and leading teams to solve problems and implement innovative solutions
  • Have excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office with proficiency in Excel and the ability to learn new systems.
  • Be fluent in English, verbal and written and have excellent all-round communication skills.
  • Able to work as a team player and to effectively collaborate within a matrix organization.
  • Actively seek opportunities for personal development including progression across the wider department.
