The Consultant Surgical Oncologist will be responsible for providing expert surgical care to patients with cancer, from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up. The role involves performing complex oncologic surgeries, leading multidisciplinary discussions, guiding junior doctors, and contributing to the overall development of surgical oncology services within the institution.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with malignant and pre-malignant conditions.
Perform complex surgical oncology procedures across one or more specialties (e.g., breast, gastrointestinal, head and neck, thoracic, gynecologic, or urologic oncology).
Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings and develop individualized treatment plans.
Ensure evidence-based, patient-centered care aligned with institutional protocols and international best practices.
Provide preoperative and postoperative care, ensuring optimal recovery and rehabilitation.
Collaborate with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and palliative care teams.
Teaching & Mentoring
Supervise and train residents, fellows, and medical students in surgical oncology techniques and patient management.
Contribute to continuing medical education (CME) programs, workshops, and surgical training initiatives.
Research & Academic Contributions
Engage in clinical research, audits, and publication of findings in peer-reviewed journals.
Participate in clinical trials and contribute to institutional research initiatives.
Present at national and international oncology conferences.
Administrative & Leadership Duties
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to service development, policy-making, and quality improvement initiatives.
Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation and comply with hospital and legal standards.
Support accreditation, quality assurance, and safety programs.
Qualifications & Experience
Medical Degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent)

Postgraduate qualification in Surgery (MS/FRCS/DNB or equivalent)

Super-specialty qualification in Surgical Oncology (MCh/DNB or equivalent)

Valid registration/licensure with [relevant medical board or council].
