The Consultant Radiologist will be responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services, interpreting radiologic studies accurately, supporting clinical decision-making, and ensuring optimal patient care. The role involves working with multidisciplinary teams, maintaining imaging standards, and contributing to the growth and efficiency of the radiology department.
Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnostic Imaging
Perform and interpret a range of imaging studies including:
X-rays
Ultrasound
CT scans
MRI scans
Mammography (if applicable)
Fluoroscopy
Provide timely and accurate reporting for all radiological investigations.
Offer sub-specialty interpretations (Neuroradiology, MSK, Pediatric Radiology, etc.) if trained.
Ensure protocols are followed for all imaging procedures for consistent, high-quality results.
Clinical & Patient Care Responsibilities
Review clinical indications and ensure appropriate imaging modalities are utilized.
Communicate critical findings promptly to referring clinicians.
Provide patient counselling and address queries regarding procedures when required.
Ensure patient comfort, safety, and compliance with radiation protection standards.
Operational & Administrative Duties
Support smooth workflow and reduce report turnaround times (TAT).
Collaborate with technicians, nursing staff, and other clinical teams for efficient departmental functioning.
Ensure proper documentation, PACS utilization, and record maintenance.
Participate in departmental audits, peer review, and quality assurance programs.
Monitor imaging equipment performance and coordinate with biomedical teams for maintenance.
Teaching & Development
Provide clinical guidance and support to junior doctors, technicians, and radiology staff.
Participate in academic activities, internal CMEs, and multidisciplinary meetings.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in radiology, AI integration, and imaging technologies.
Qualifications & Requirements
MBBS + MD/DNB in Radiology from a recognized institution.
Valid medical registration as per national regulatory standards.
Strong diagnostic accuracy with the ability to handle a wide spectrum of imaging modalities.
Excellent communication skills and clinical professionalism.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multidisciplinary teams.
