Job Description

The Neonatology Specialist will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to newborns, including premature, low-birth-weight, and critically ill infants. The role involves clinical management in the NICU, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, family counseling, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and supervise care in Level II/III/IV NICUs, including ventilated and critically ill neonates.
Perform neonatal resuscitation, stabilization, and emergency management in the delivery room and NICU.
Conduct daily rounds, assess progress, and update treatment plans for admitted neonates.
Perform procedures such as intubation, CPAP management, umbilical line insertion, surfactant administration, etc.
Coordinate with obstetric, pediatric, and surgical teams for perinatal and neonatal care.
Provide parent counseling on clinical status, prognosis, and follow-up plans.
Ensure proper documentation, adherence to protocols, and participation in audits and quality improvement programs.
Supervise and train junior doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff.
Participate in neonatal transport (inbound/outbound) when required.
Maintain updated knowledge of best practices in neonatology and follow evidence-based guidelines.
Requirements
Mandatory
MD Pediatrics or DNB Pediatrics from a recognized medical institution.
Valid Medical Council Registration (State/NMC).
Preferred / Desirable
Fellowship in Neonatology (IAP/NNF or equivalent)
OR
1-3+ years of hands-on experience in a Level II/III NICU.
Additional certifications such as:
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
PALS or BLS (preferred)

Ability to manage NICU protocols, SOPs, and quality standards.
Experience with EMR documentation and clinical audits.
Leadership abilities for mentoring pediatric residents and NICU nursing staff.
