Working at Teach For India

Teach For India is on a journey to reach an India free of poverty and filled with love by ending educational inequity in our country. Fifteen years into our journey we are a movement of ~5000+ Alumni working at all levels of the education system, who are reaching 1 in 10 children across the country. These Alumni have graduated from our two-year Fellowship Program where they taught in under-resourced classrooms to put ~33,500 low-income children on a different life path. Today, we have ~1000 Fellows and are the largest pipeline of driven, skilled talent into the educational ecosystem in India. Over 16,000 Teach For India students have appeared for the 10th grade board examinations till date, with an impressive 95% pass rate across cities as of November 2024.

the Alumni of our programs at an intersection of their interests and the needs of the system and our children

Advocate

for key issues that impact educational equity, and engage 3.5% of the population in the movement for educational equity

Act

collectively with our Alumni to learn about and address key issues in our regions.

Position Summary

Please note that this is a full-time Consultant contractual role for a period of 7 months, open to long-term renewal.


The Alumni Impact team at Teach For India is working closely on building a movement of people who advocate and act collectively for educational equity. Our team focuses on curating opportunities for the Alumni network to connect, learn, and collaborate.


As a Consultant, the role would entail enabling an active, thriving, learning and growing Alumni community that fuels progress towards the organization's North Star.


This work involves fostering strong, meaningful relationships with our Alumni and leveraging these efforts to improve Alumni ownership, engagement and collaboration. You will play a crucial role to unleash the power of our Alumni to learn and act collectively nationally, with an intention to change the status quo for children.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

As Consultant, National Alumni Impact

Activating the Network:

Design and execute new initiatives that will bring the Alumni and Alumni-led organizations to mobilize people/resources, advocate for shared causes, and collaborate with each other (including Teach For India). Own the design and execution of large-scale events at the national level, like education conferences, dialogues, and upskilling spaces.

Outreach and Communication:

Moderate, create, and disseminate content and information for the Alumni network, WhatsApp/Telegram groups, and other social media channels. Create and share a quarterly communication with Alumni to instill a sense of pride to be a part of the network and to amplify the voice of our Alumni. Create and execute an engagement strategy for our flagship programs to ensure connectedness and learning within the peer community

Managing Data & Impact Reporting:

Maintain the Alumni Impact Dashboard that helps us track and report Alumni engagement data across programs Own the M&E for our flagship programs and design the tracking and reporting tools for the same Design Impact Reports that can be shared with our internal and external stakeholders

As a Consultant at Teach For India:

Contributing to

the team goals and priorities

beyond individual goals and priorities. Serving as an

ambassador of the Teach For India brand

and an advocate for our work and for educational equity in our country through both internal and external communication after committing time in our classrooms to understand our work more deeply. Supporting key organizational areas such as

Recruitment, Selection, Fundraising, Volunteering, Movement Building.

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

Graduate or Postgraduate in any field 5+ years of relevant work experience Strong verbal and written communication skills to deliver compelling stories/messages through various media to a variety of audiences Proven track record of engaging diverse stakeholders--educators, government bodies, NGOs, funders, and community leaders--and facilitating collaboration among them Ability to quickly build relationships and influence others without authority Experience in conducting landscape studies, stakeholder mapping, interviews, and synthesizing findings into actionable insights Background in designing and/or facilitating workshops, dialogues, or collective forums aimed at building shared vision and purpose Familiarity with setting up systems to measure progress, track outcomes, and report on impact Exposure to collective impact frameworks, systems change approaches, or ecosystem-building initiatives Previous experience in teaching/education would be an added advantage (not mandatory)
