The Worldwide Consulting Centers (WWCC), which are part of the global VMware Professional Services Organization, are committed to the success of the customer and their digital strategy. The WWCC streamlines the journey for customers to become digital businesses that deliver better experiences to their customers and employees. Under the Migration center offerings, the WWCC delivers high volume, short and long duration Data center migration engagements, which include the Discovery, Planning and Execution of the data center. VMware product franchises (multi-cloud, virtual cloud networking, digital workspace, security, and modern applications), that ensure customers rapidly reach their goals by providing expert help every step of the way. The Consultant is an advanced level technology specialist and subject matter expert, providing customer guidance by facilitating technical workshops, creation of low-level designs and implementation of use cases into high-quality solutions. In addition to customer facing responsibilities, Consultants also provide technical input to service offering evaluation, customer success initiative, pre-sales and drive best practices in the form of white paper creation. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing

• You will be expected to effectively work as part of a wider project team or independently act as technical lead on migration engagements.
• You should be able to identify process gaps and work with the team to address them
• Maintain current, high-level technical knowledge of the entire VMware product portfolio and future product direction and expert level knowledge of the Data Center Migration, which include Data center discovery, Planning and Execution.
• Take ownership and accountability for individual deliverables.
• Proactively define project requirements/issues/constraints/risks and address them with PMs
• You should be able to effectively collaborate within different product workstreams within the team and with Business units, identify current gaps and find a way to bridge them
• VMware product portfolio and future product direction and deep knowledge of product lines, which include VMware Cloud on AWS, vSphere, vSAN, NSX, HCX, vRNI vSphere, vSAN, vRNI & HCX, Carbonite, RP4VM and vRealize suite of products.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

• Experience in conducting workshops, preparing migration strategy, migration plans, runbooks, status reports.
• Drive customer facing and internal project calls along with project managers and provide technical guidance
• Good understanding of Cloud/infrastructure components and migration methodology. Good documentation skills.
• Understanding of various 3rd party integrations with VMware products and highlight any interoperability issues
• Effectively co-ordinates between stakeholder’s and documents the conversation that is meaningful/useful.
• Experience in hosting meetings like – command center, go/no-go, lessons learnt, table top etc. Strong stakeholder management skills – negotiation skills. Good articulation and communication skills in both verbal and written contexts.
• Min 6-8 years’ experience in large Data Centre migration projects with hands on experience on any of the planning tools

Where is this role located?
Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable non-daily commute of the office.
