KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive)
To conduct a business analysis and provide recommendations on the economic viability and sustainability of the production of Take Home Rations (THR).
While the consultant will look into the concrete cases of three states indicated below, s/he is also expected to develop a financial analysis model that can be adopted for the analysis of other states for future needs.
States to be covered: Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Bihar.
1.Haryana, Bihar:
(i) Suggest a business model of a decentralized Take Home Ration (THR) production unit at different geographical levels (Divisional/district/ block), which would ensure maximum financial viability of the unit. The analysis would include the optimal scale of each production unit, standard costs for the operation, various business opportunities for the unit to ensure profit gains from the market. (ii) Also suggest the financial viability of the unit basis the different THR product compositions.
2.Rajasthan:
(i) Review the THR production unit set up by WFP in Jaipur and suggest strategies to improve the financial viability of the unit. (ii) Develop a business plan for production and sale of additional products produced by the THR unit for sale in the open market. The business plan should specify the type of products to be developed based on consumer survey and preferences, possible profits, packaging & branding, sales strategy and lay out a step by step approach for the same.
3.Uttar Pradesh:
(i) Strategy for Upscaling: Observe the ongoing model for engagement of SHG micro-enterprises in market-based approach in Malwa, Fatehpur. Suggest any improvements in the model and recommendations for upscaling the model in terms of overall number of days of engagement, products and recipes, packaging materials etc developed based on consumer and market demand, price point etc (ii) Marketing and Sales Strategy: Suggest strategies for engagement in marketing and sales of newer recipes, by exploring newer markets (Online, FMCGs, SHGs, Retailer network, website, exhibitions, haats, etc) developed by the SHG micro-enterprises. (iii) Consumer surveys: Consumer survey for the type of product required, or marketing strategy required. (iv) Profit Estimation: The consultant may undertake a study to estimate the overall profitability of the model to engage in the market-based production of alternate nutritious recipes. (v) Partnerships: Explore and suggest potential partnerships with Farmer Producer Groups / Organizations (FPOs) for potential local economic development, FMCG groups. (vi) Capacity Development: Undertake capacity building and handholding of a pool of master trainers for roll out of the trainings to women\xe2\x80\x99s micro-enterprises based on exposure and learnings from other similar models of women\xe2\x80\x99s collectives such as Amul, Kudumbashree, Lijjat Papad, Nandini etc. (vii) Documentation: Support the content development for an E-module for integration into the existing LMS being developed by WFP which will be targeted to the WSHG members and SRLM staff in UP.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Advanced University degree in Entrepreneurship development, Business management, Marketing, Rural development, Accountancy or other related fields
EXPERIENCE
9-10 years of experience of setting up successful micro-enterprises; analysing small to medium businesses and advising on improving profitability is required as it is a consultancy role. Experience of working with women\xe2\x80\x99s self-help groups on similar projects in rural settings is desirable.
LANGUAGE
Fluent oral and written communication skills in English & Hindi.
