About the Role
We are seeking a clinically adept and empathetic
Anesthesiologist
to become an integral part of our surgical and critical care team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe administration of anesthesia across a wide range of procedures and patient profiles. From pre-operative evaluations to post-anesthesia care, your work will directly impact patient comfort, surgical outcomes, and safety.
You'll collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, and perioperative staff to develop customized anesthesia plans and respond swiftly to evolving intraoperative conditions. This is a high-responsibility role that demands attention to detail, rapid decision-making, and a deep understanding of patient physiology.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Operative Evaluation
Conduct detailed pre-anesthesia assessments including patient history, comorbidities, and risk stratification.
Recommend suitable anesthesia techniques based on the planned procedure and patient condition.
Counsel patients and obtain informed consent for anesthesia.
Anesthesia Administration & Monitoring
Administer general, regional, spinal, epidural, or sedation anesthesia using best practices and safety protocols.
Continuously monitor patient vitals, adjust anesthetic depth, and manage intraoperative hemodynamics and ventilation.
Ensure smooth induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia.
Post-Operative Care & Pain Management
Provide post-anesthesia recovery monitoring and manage common complications such as nausea, hypotension, or respiratory depression.
Prescribe and oversee pain management strategies including PCA (patient-controlled analgesia) and nerve blocks.
Participate in post-op rounds and address anesthesia-related patient concerns.
Operational & Safety Protocols
Ensure all anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment are calibrated and in proper working order.
Follow institutional guidelines for infection control, sterile procedures, and emergency preparedness.
Maintain detailed, timely, and legally compliant anesthesia records for each case.
Team Collaboration & Training
Collaborate effectively with surgeons, ICU staff, and nurses to deliver integrated perioperative care.
Train nursing staff and junior medical personnel in basic life support and airway management when necessary.
Contribute to clinical audits and quality assurance initiatives in the anesthesiology department.
Required Qualifications & Skills
MBBS with MD/DNB in Anesthesia from an accredited institution.
2-5 years of hands-on experience in a hospital setting, preferably in multi-specialty or tertiary care.
Proficient in airway management, regional blocks, and crisis response protocols.
Strong grasp of anesthetic pharmacology, patient physiology, and monitoring tools.
Ability to manage both elective and emergency surgical cases confidently.
Calm and precise under pressure, with excellent interpersonal communication.
Preferred Attributes
Certified in ACLS/BLS or equivalent life support programs.
Prior experience in ICUs or critical care settings.
Exposure to a broad case mix across general surgery, obstetrics, orthopedics, and laparoscopic procedures.
Willingness to work in rotational shifts, on-calls, and during emergencies as required.
