JOB DESCRIPTION

:

Conduct thorough preoperative assessments to evaluate patients' medical histories, physical conditions, and risk factors to develop an individualized anesthesia plan. Order and interpret necessary diagnostic tests, such as blood tests, EKGs, chest X-rays, and pulmonary function tests, to assess patients' readiness for anesthesia. Explain anesthesia procedures, potential risks, and post-anesthesia care to patients and their families, obtaining informed consent. Administer various types of anesthesia (general, regional, local, or sedation) based on the surgical procedure, patient condition, and anesthetic plan. Use advanced techniques and equipment to deliver anesthesia, including intravenous (IV) lines, endotracheal tubes, epidurals, and spinal blocks. Adjust anesthesia levels during surgery to maintain patient comfort and vital stability, ensuring the patient remains unconscious and pain-free. Continuously monitor patients' vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and respiratory status) during surgery to detect any adverse reactions or complications. Utilize advanced monitoring equipment, such as ECGs, pulse oximeters, capnographs, and arterial lines, to assess patient status and make real-time adjustments to anesthesia. Collaborate with the surgical team to manage unforeseen complications, such as allergic reactions, cardiac arrest, or respiratory distress, ensuring immediate intervention. Oversee patients' recovery from anesthesia, managing pain, nausea, and other postoperative symptoms in the recovery room (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit - PACU). Develop and implement pain management plans, including medications, nerve blocks, and other pain relief techniques, to ensure optimal patient comfort and recovery. Monitor patients for potential complications, such as respiratory depression, hypotension, or bleeding, and provide appropriate interventions as needed. Provide anesthesia care for emergency surgeries, trauma cases, and critical care situations, ensuring rapid assessment, stabilization, and intervention. Participate in resuscitation efforts, such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), for patients experiencing cardiac or respiratory emergencies. Collaborate with ICU teams to manage critically ill patients requiring sedation, pain management, or invasive monitoring. Work closely with surgeons, nurses, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated and comprehensive patient care. Communicate effectively with the surgical team to anticipate needs, address concerns, and ensure smooth workflow in the operating room. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case discussions, and patient management meetings to optimize care delivery. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including anesthesia plans, intraoperative notes, medication administration, and postoperative care. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, anesthesia protocols, and healthcare regulations, including infection control, medication safety, and patient confidentiality. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, and audits to enhance anesthesia care and patient safety. Mentor and provide training to junior anesthesiologists, residents, medical students, and other healthcare staff in anesthesia techniques, patient care, and safety protocols. Stay updated with the latest advancements in anesthesiology, attending conferences, workshops, and continuing medical education (CME) programs. Engage in research and clinical trials to contribute to the development of new anesthesia practices and improve patient care outcomes. Serves and protects the hospital community by ensuring adherence to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures on NABH standards.
