Job Description

A Computer Technician installs, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots computer hardware and software for organizations, providing technical support to users, resolving network issues, updating systems, and performing diagnostics to ensure smooth operation, often requiring strong problem-solving and customer service skills alongside technical knowledge of systems and peripherals. Key Responsibilities Installation & Setup: Configure and install new computer systems, peripherals (printers, scanners), software, and network components. Maintenance & Updates: Perform regular maintenance, install security updates, system upgrades, and create data backups. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues for end-users. User Support: Provide help desk support, coach users, and train them on new technologies. Diagnostics: Run diagnostic tests and repair faulty components like motherboards or firmware. Documentation: Create technical documentation and potentially lead training sessions. Typical Skills & Qualifications Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Good communication and customer service abilities. Familiarity with networking concepts. Relevant certifications (like A+ or Network+) are often a plus, though not always required.
