Job Description

A Computer Technician, also known as an IT Support Technician, is responsible for maintaining and repairing computer systems, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and providing technical support to users. They install and configure hardware, manage software, and ensure system security and data protection. Key Responsibilities: Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with computer systems, hardware, software, and networks. Installation and Configuration: Install and configure computer hardware and software, including operating systems, applications, and peripherals. Maintenance and Repair: Repair and maintain computer hardware, software, and peripherals, replacing faulty components, and performing preventative maintenance. Technical Support: Provide technical support to users, including phone support, remote support, and on-site support. Network Management: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot computer networks, including LANs, WANs, and wireless networks. Security and Privacy: Ensure the security and privacy of computer systems and data, managing security updates and implementing security measures. Documentation and Record Keeping: Document repairs, fixes, and other technical activities, and maintain records of system configurations. Software Management: Manage software in computers and networks, including installing updates, troubleshooting software issues, and configuring software settings. Required Skills: Technical Skills: Strong understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking principles. Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve a wide range of hardware and software issues. Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with users, both technical and non-technical, explaining technical issues and providing support. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and solve problems quickly and efficiently. Customer Service Skills: Ability to provide excellent customer service, including being patient, helpful, and understanding.
