Job Summary:
The Computer Specialist at
Braincare and General Hospital
is responsible for supporting and maintaining the hospital's IT infrastructure, including computer systems, software, networks, and medical information systems. The role ensures that all hospital departments have reliable and secure access to technology resources, helping to maintain uninterrupted healthcare services and data security.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, and hospital-related software and hardware.
Provide technical support to medical staff, administrative personnel, and other hospital departments.
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues quickly to minimize downtime.
Manage user accounts, access permissions, and system security protocols.
Maintain and support Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and ensure HIPAA compliance.
Monitor network performance and respond to connectivity or security incidents.
Assist in the setup of telemedicine, imaging systems, and other specialized medical IT equipment.
Support hospital staff in the use of IT systems through training and user guides.
Collaborate with vendors and third-party IT service providers as needed.
Maintain accurate documentation of systems, incidents, and IT inventory.
Required Qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Minimum of 2 years experience in a computer support or IT technician role, preferably in a healthcare environment.
Proficiency in Windows OS, Microsoft Office, networking (LAN/WAN), and basic server maintenance.
Strong understanding of hospital data privacy and security requirements.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, especially in a clinical environment.
Ability to work in high-pressure situations and on-call hours when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with hospital information systems (HIS), EMR, PACS, or other healthcare IT platforms.
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).
Basic knowledge of biomedical equipment networking and integration.
Working Conditions:
Hospital environment; may require occasional evening or weekend work.
On-call support for critical system issues or emergencies.
Occasional lifting or movement of IT equipment.
