Job Description

A Computer Operator monitors and manages computer systems, networks, and hardware to ensure they run smoothly. Key responsibilities include running scheduled jobs, performing routine maintenance like software updates and backups, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing technical support to users. This role requires a strong understanding of computer systems and the ability to follow directions and solve problems efficiently. Core responsibilities

System monitoring:

Continuously observe computer systems and networks for any errors or performance issues.

Routine maintenance:

Perform regular tasks such as system backups, software updates, and hardware cleaning to prevent problems.

Troubleshooting:

Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, or network issues as they arise to minimize downtime.

Executing commands:

Input commands into computer terminals and manage batch processing jobs according to schedules.

Technical support:

Assist users by answering their questions and resolving computer-related problems.

Security:

Implement security measures, such as password protection and data encryption, to protect sensitive information.

Documentation:

Maintain logs of system performance, maintenance activities, and user requests.
Common duties

Installing and configuring hardware and peripherals. Managing data storage and organizing files. Collaborating with other IT team members to implement updates and policies. Generating and distributing performance reports. Staying updated on new technology and recommending improvements.
