Job Description

Role : Computer Operator (Packaging and Layout)

Key responsibilities

Design file preparation:

Work with design and production teams to prepare and finalize files for printing. This involves using software like Adobe Illustrator and CorelDRAW to check die-lines, confirm artwork, and ensure all specifications meet production standards.

Data entry and management:

Maintain accurate records of materials, designs, and production batches. Log relevant paperwork for orders, shipping, and labels.

Proofing and quality control:

Assist in creating mockups and prototypes to test the functionality and appearance of new packaging designs. Check for errors or inconsistencies in pre-press files.

Production support:

Provide support to the factory floor by handling packaging equipment and tools as needed. This can involve label printing and coordinating with production staff to meet daily targets.

Coordination:

Act as a communication point between the design team, production staff, and inventory managers to ensure seamless workflow.

System maintenance:

Perform basic computer operations and clerical tasks, ensuring design files and production data are properly backed up and organized.

Skills and qualifications

Technical skills:

Proficiency in design software such as CorelDRAW and Adobe Illustrator is highly preferred, as these are the industry standards for creating print and packaging layouts.

Attention to detail:

A meticulous eye is crucial for checking design files, data accuracy, and ensuring the final product matches specifications.

Industry knowledge:

A basic understanding of printing processes (e.g., offset, gravure), packaging materials, and manufacturing is a plus.

Soft skills:

Excellent verbal communication and the ability to work collaboratively with both creative and production teams are important.

Experience:

Previous experience in the printing, media, or packaging industries is often preferred.
