A Compression Operator in the pharmaceutical industry is responsible for operating and maintaining compression machinery to produce tablets, ensuring compliance with GMP and quality standards, and documenting production runs. They also perform in-process checks, troubleshoot issues, and participate in optimizing production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Operating Compression Machines:
Setting up and operating tablet compression machines according to SOPs and manufacturing instructions.
Quality Control:
Performing in-process checks on tablets (average weight, thickness, hardness, friability, etc.) and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
Documentation:
Maintaining accurate records of production runs, including batch numbers, productivity, and quality control data.
Troubleshooting:
Identifying and addressing machine issues to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production.
Maintenance:
Performing routine maintenance on compression equipment and machinery.
GMP Compliance:
Adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines during all aspects of tablet compression operations.
Collaboration:
Working with other team members to optimize production processes and troubleshoot issues.
Safety:
Ensuring compliance with safety procedures and wearing appropriate PPE.
Line Clearance:
Preparing rooms and equipment for line clearance, including verifying and calibrating balances/scales and checking pressure differentials.
Material Handling:
Receiving and transferring materials from storage, checking dispensed materials/final mix blend/compressed tablets and labelling as per BMR.
