The Component Engineer will be responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of electronic components used across our product lines. This includes technical data capture, component selection, lifecycle management, and ensuring compliance with industry standards such as IPC, ISO, and RoHS. The role involves evaluating component alternatives, mitigating counterfeit risks, maintaining component databases, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and procurement to secure reliable and cost-effective component sourcing. The ideal candidate will have robust experience in electronic component management, data analysis, and industry regulations, contributing to the company's goal of delivering reliable, compliant products.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Data & Lifecycle Management
Capture, update, and analyze electronic component data (part numbers, specs, supplier info).
Manage component lifecycle, identify obsolescence, assure longevity and find suitable replacements.
Review Bill of Materials (BOMs) regularly for compliance and suitability.
2. Component Selection & Evaluation
Identify, evaluate, and qualify active, passive, and electromechanical components.
Assess alternatives for cost, quality, reliability, and performance.
3. Supplier & Industry Collaboration
Work with manufacturers and suppliers for data, availability, and technology updates.
Find new components and suppliers to reduce costs and improve quality.
4. Regulatory Compliance
Ensure components meet IPC, ISO, RoHS, and export standards.
Maintain documentation like DCNs, drawings, and compliance reports.
5. Tools & Data Management
Use tools like SiliconExpert, IHS, and PLM systems for data handling.
Stay updated on latest industry trends and technologies.
6. Cross-Functional Support
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams.
Support secure component supply and manage counterfeit risks
Benefits
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electronics Engineering or a related field.
3 to 5 yrs experience in electronic component management or related roles within manufacturing or aerospace sectors.
Strong understanding of electronic components, including passive, active, electromechanical devices.
Experience with component data management, lifecycle management, and BOM processes.
Proficiency with component data tools like Silicon Expert, IHS CAPS Universe, and PLM systems.
Knowledge of industry standards including IPC, ISO, RoHS, and export regulations.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
