Investigation Partner for India, Assurance Partner for Global Innovation Technology Centre Chennai & Frontier Market

The Assurance Partner role is responsible for both Investigations as well as Assurance activities. As the Investigation Partner (IP), you will be responsible for coordinating and investigating reports of internal and external reported compliance allegations for complex and non-complex investigation (local) and support Global Investigation for violations of external law or regulation, as well as alleged violations of the AstraZeneca Code of Ethics and supporting policies. As the IP, you shall utilize technology, analysis, interviewing and assessment techniques to protect and safeguard personnel, information, and assets. As an Assurance Partner (AP), you are accountable for conducting monitoring to highlight risk areas and suggest remediation plans in Local Compliance Committee Meeting (or other agreed forums) and provide real- time insights of monitoring and investigations to Leadership.

The role demands flexibility and collaboration to review compliance matters even from other markets. In addition, sometimes at relatively short notice you may require to travel to conduct investigations within markets.

Initially the role will be focused upon our Global Innovation Technology Centre in Chennai (IT centre) and the Marketing Companies across the Frontier Markets (e.g., Cambodia, Myanmar, Brunei, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Maldives). You will be a member of the Global Compliance Risk and Assurance Team. Reporting directly to Regional Assurance Lead. And will be closely working with Global Investigation Lead. The function operates regionally with the Regional Assurance leads reporting to the Head of Global Compliance Risk & Assurance.

Typical Accountabilities

As an Investigation Partner you will:

  • Plan, organize, and conduct end to end compliance complex investigation (local) of cases reported through the available channels provided by the company like AZ ethics, HR, Line Manager, Legal, Global Compliance etc. in accordance with Investigation Standard, ensuring case close out in timely.
  • Develop and deploy standard investigations approaches to share findings with key stakeholders and stakeholders are kept updated as needed throughout (eg standard case notification, updates and reporting).
  • Ensure investigation plan is proportionate to the risks raised by the allegation.
  • Ensure investigations are adequately resourced (team-based approach if needed to improve efficiency/timeliness of investigations close out).
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in Compliance, Legal, HR and relevant businesses or functions to provide guidance, advice and support by conducting investigations in an appropriate, efficient and timely manner consistent with the governing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Effectively communicate the nature, status, and outcomes of relevant investigations to senior stakeholders in Regional Investigations, Global Compliance, Legal, HR and/or line management, as required.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of substantiated violations and the development of corrective actions as well as recommendations to prevent future violations. Ensure discipline is proportionate and globally aligned.
  • Record all findings, results and data related to compliance investigation including disseminate final report, document all relevant information in AZ ethics.
  • Conduct analysis of investigations related data to identify trends that will inform compliance approaches and share these insights with business, compliance stakeholders etc.
  • As appropriate, develop case studies or other communications to share key learnings from investigations with a broader audience.
  • Effectively communicate with Global Investigation Lead, Regional Assurance Leads and AP Stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties related to Regional Investigations in the team, as may be required.
As an Assurance Partner you will
  • To develop Assurance form to respond to risks that has been identified if the form is not yet exist.
  • Ensuring the Assurance Plans are responsive to risk signals rather than static documents, focus on risk-based activities, all relevant stakeholders\xe2\x80\x99 feedbacks are sought regularly and drives area of focus.
  • Review of data drives focus on high-risk activities/areas and be flexible to adjust the plan in a timely manager (if needed).
  • Deliver Global assigned Assurance Activities as agreed in timely manager in line with agreed timeframes and drive globally aligned remediation initiatives to address non-compliant areas.
  • Be strategic when conduct the local Assurance Activities, tailored to the specific risk of the markets/unit. To use the right assurance approach for the risk/environment not a one size fits all approach.
  • Be creative and flexible to think out of the box to \xe2\x80\x9clook beyond the form\xe2\x80\x9d and promptly adjust if changes are needed based on issues/observations identify.
  • Proactive to routinely utilize Assurance Insight to enhanced analytical approached to review and identify red flags/risk areas.
  • Record and report all relevant assurance activities in the relevant data repository in timely.
  • Timely shared meaningful insights with practical recommendations to business and relevant stakeholder to drive positive changes/ improvement opportunities.
  • Relevant stakeholders are consulted to ensure assurance recommendations are practical and aligned with business expectations and have been developed through careful analysis of assurance findings and the risks associated with them.
  • Takes the initiative to focus on capability and career development.
Education, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Essential
  • Experience in conducting investigations in various compliance and monitoring-related matters. Demonstrates ability to assess the nature of the allegation and identify applicable policy, statute or external requirements and assess the nature/magnitude of potential people related / compliance / reputational risk that a case may present based on the given set of allegations.
  • Ability to conduct interviews, review business records, HR records etc.
  • Strong critical thinking skills in data and analytics to identify, analyze, evaluate, and resolve issues quickly.
  • Strong regulatory/compliance knowledge and skills; strong ability to understand governance, processes, and controls.
  • Team player and ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines and exercise good judgement.
  • Possess highly developed written and verbal communication skills, clear and precise writing skills, effective interpersonal skills - the ability to empathize and verbally connect with people during both stressful and non-stressful situations, while facilitating the accurate recollection of conversations, interactions and observations using non-threatening conversation.
  • Willingness to learn about different areas of the business and different compliance frameworks based on the needs of a particular investigation.
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills including demonstrated ability to drive an investigation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Flexible and the ability to cope with change in a fast-paced environment and evolving company.
  • Highest ethical standards, trustworthy, able to operate with absolute discretion and objectivity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to self-development and a passion for lifelong learning.
Desirable
  • University degree.
  • Familiarity with principles of an effective compliance program and corporate governance.
  • Working knowledge of the pharmaceutical legal environment and employment laws of the country is an advantage.
  • Experience in conducting internal corporate investigations is preferred.
  • Experience in law enforcement, litigation and/or auditing/monitoring may also be helpful.
