We are seeking a talented and dedicated Commis I - Tandoor to join our culinary team in Mysuru, India. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will assist in the preparation and cooking of authentic tandoor dishes, contributing to our restaurant's reputation for excellence in Indian cuisine.
Assist the Chef de Partie and senior kitchen staff in the preparation and cooking of tandoor dishes
Maintain and operate the tandoor oven, ensuring proper temperature control and cooking techniques
Prepare ingredients for tandoor cooking, including marinating meats and vegetables
Ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene in the tandoor section
Follow recipes and cooking methods as directed by senior chefs
Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure efficient food preparation and service
Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards, including HACCP procedures
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper care of kitchen equipment and utensils
Assist with inventory management and stock rotation in the tandoor section
Participate in menu development and suggest improvements for tandoor dishes
Support other kitchen sections as needed during peak hours or special events
Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Hotel Management or equivalent culinary qualifications
Previous experience in a professional kitchen, preferably with focus on tandoor cooking
Proficiency in tandoor cooking techniques and equipment operation
Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine, particularly tandoor specialties
Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, including HACCP
Excellent attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Physical stamina to stand for long periods and work in a hot kitchen environment
Willingness to learn and adapt to new cooking techniques and recipes
