The Commis I - Pastry is responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods under the supervision of the Pastry Chef. The role ensures consistency, creativity, and adherence to hygiene and resort quality standards in all pastry operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pastry Preparation & Production
Prepare and bake cakes, pastries, breads, cookies, desserts, and other bakery items as per recipes and menu requirements.
Assist in designing dessert presentations and buffet displays.
Maintain consistency in taste, texture, and appearance of all pastry items.
Prepare ingredients by measuring, mixing, and blending according to standard recipes.
2. Quality & Hygiene
Ensure all pastry items are produced to the highest quality standards and within the required timelines.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the pastry kitchen at all times.
Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines as per HACCP standards.
Properly label and store ingredients and finished products.
3. Teamwork & Coordination
Work closely with the Pastry Chef and Sous Chef in daily operations.
Coordinate with other kitchen sections for smooth service during breakfast, lunch, and dinner operations.
Support and guide junior pastry staff and trainees when needed.
4. Inventory & Cost Control
Assist in monitoring stock levels of ingredients and supplies.
Report shortages or maintenance issues to the Pastry Chef.
Follow portion control guidelines to minimize wastage and maintain cost efficiency.
5. Creativity & Menu Contribution
Contribute ideas for new dessert recipes and seasonal menu updates.
Participate in live counters, special events, and theme night preparations.
Employer Requirements:
Education:
Diploma or Certificate in Bakery & Confectionery / Culinary Arts / Hotel Management
Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a pastry or bakery section (preferably in a resort, hotel, or fine dining setup)
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry decoration, and dessert presentation
Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
Time management and organizational skills
Creative and detail-oriented approach
Personality Traits:
