Quality and consistencyEnsuring that food is prepared to high standards and meets agreed-upon specifications.
InventoryMonitoring stock movement, requisitioning items, and accepting and storing deliveries. They also take inventory of restaurant supplies and notify the supervisor of low or depleted supplies.
CleaningPerforming basic cleaning duties and ensuring that work stations are properly sanitized.
SafetyRemoving any hazards and reporting any defects in the kitchen or equipment to a senior chef. They also ensure that all food items are properly stored to prevent spoilage.
CommunicationCommunicating clearly and effectively in a kitchen environment. They also coordinate with other sections and liaise with the Catering and Stewarding Departments.
TrainingThey may educate and guide junior chefs. They may also attend training courses for appropriate development.
