The Commis 1 assists in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food, ensuring all dishes are prepared to the highest quality standards and in a timely manner. This position is ideal for individuals looking to develop their culinary skills and gain experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation:
Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning.
Cooking:
Cook dishes according to recipes and standards set by the Head Chef or Sous Chef, including preparing starters, mains, and desserts.
Station Management:
Maintain a clean and organized work station, ensuring all utensils, equipment, and ingredients are readily available.
Quality Control:
Ensure that all dishes meet the quality standards of the establishment, including taste, presentation, and temperature.
Health & Safety:
Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of food, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Collaboration:
Work effectively with other kitchen staff, including Commis 2, Chef de Partie, and other team members, to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Learning:
Continuously develop culinary skills and knowledge by learning from senior chefs and participating in training sessions.
Qualifications:
Education:
Basic culinary training or equivalent experience is preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience in a kitchen environment
Skills:
Basic cooking and food preparation skills.
Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
Good organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
