We are seeking a talented and dedicated Commis 1 to join our culinary team in Mumbai, India. As a Commis 1, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations and contributing to the creation of exceptional dishes.
Assist the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations
Prepare ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring
Follow recipes and cooking instructions accurately to ensure consistent quality
Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service
Assist in the proper storage and labeling of ingredients and prepared foods
Participate in kitchen inventory and stock rotation tasks
Support the culinary team during busy service periods
Learn and adapt to new cooking techniques and menu items
Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff
Qualifications
Culinary degree or equivalent experience in a professional kitchen setting
Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a Commis in a high-end restaurant
Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment
Excellent understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
Physical stamina and dexterity to perform kitchen tasks efficiently
Willingness to learn and adapt to new culinary techniques
