Job Description

The Commis Chef assists senior chefs in food preparation and basic cooking tasks, ensuring quality, hygiene, and consistency in every dish. The role serves as an entry-level position for aspiring chefs, providing an opportunity to learn culinary techniques, maintain kitchen standards, and support overall kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:1. Food Preparation & Cooking



Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes as per standard recipes. Follow directions from the Chef de Partie and maintain portion and quality control. Prepare mise en place (ingredients, garnishes, sauces) before service. Ensure timely preparation of dishes during service hours.

2. Kitchen Operations



Keep workstations clean, organized, and sanitized at all times. Handle kitchen equipment safely and report any malfunctions. Receive and store deliveries properly, ensuring stock rotation (FIFO). Assist in inventory checks and report shortages promptly.

3. Hygiene & Safety



Maintain food hygiene and safety standards (HACCP / FSSAI). Follow kitchen cleaning schedules and waste disposal procedures. Wear proper uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE). Comply with all hotel and government safety regulations.

4. Teamwork & Learning



Work closely with other kitchen team members to ensure smooth operations. Learn and develop new culinary skills under the guidance of senior chefs. Support in training and mentoring junior kitchen helpers when required.

Qualifications:



Education:

Diploma / Certificate in Culinary Arts or Hotel Management.

Experience:

0-2 years of experience in a professional kitchen (hotel, restaurant, or catering).

Technical Skills:

Basic knife skills and cooking techniques. Understanding of various cuisines and cooking methods. Familiarity with kitchen hygiene and storage practices.

Key Competencies:



Passion for food and culinary arts. Attention to detail and quality. Team spirit and adaptability. Time management and organization. Willingness to learn and take instructions.

Physical Requirements:



Ability to stand for long hours and work in a hot kitchen environment. Comfortable lifting ingredients and equipment when required. Flexibility to work in shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
