Job Description

The Commis 1 Chef supports the kitchen team in preparing high-quality, fresh food in line with Jamie Oliver brand standards. The role focuses on developing strong foundational cooking skills while maintaining excellent hygiene, consistency, and teamwork in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes according to Jamie Oliver recipes and specifications Support senior chefs during service to ensure smooth kitchen operations Prepare mise en place (vegetables, sauces, proteins, garnishes) to required standards Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control Follow all food safety, hygiene (HACCP), and health & safety procedures Keep workstations clean, organized, and fully stocked Minimize food waste and use ingredients efficiently Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating stock (FIFO) Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams Be open to learning new techniques, menu items, and kitchen skills
Skills & Qualifications

Culinary certificate or diploma (preferred but not always required) Previous experience as a Commis Chef or kitchen trainee Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen Strong teamwork and communication skills Passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and simple, honest food
